Ecologist/Biologist

Westward Environmental, Inc. (Westward) has an immediate opening in its Boerne, Texas office for a qualified, full-time Ecologist/Biologist. The candidate will be expected to conduct and assist in field sampling, data collection, and report and other documentation preparation for a variety of projects including water and wetland assessments, habitat evaluations, and threatened and endangered species surveys. Some overnight travel will be required.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related science, and strong writing skills are required. Must be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in severe weather conditions, including walking at least 10 miles in rugged terrain, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing greater than 40 pounds.  An understanding of NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act (including wetland delineation); knowledge of Texas vegetation and wildlife species; working knowledge of GIS software, such as ArcMap and ArcCatalog are preferred.

PROJECT ENGINEER

Project Engineer

Westward Environmental, Inc. (Westward) is seeking a Grade III-IV Civil Engineer (Staff Engineer-Project Engineer) for our Boerne, Texas office.

 Responsibilities:

Assisting and directing a team of engineers and technicians with design and production of civil site plans, environmental compliance documentation, and report writing.  Knowledge of TCEQ and local rules is a plus. Additional roles for candidate include assisting with design and project coordination, client interactions, site inspections and direction of junior staff.

 Requirements:

  • BS Civil Engineering
  • 3-6 Years Experience
  • PE License or ability to obtain in Texas with 24 months.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Hydraulic/Hydrologic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, WaterCAD, EPA SWMM etc.)
  • Team player
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
