Storm Water Pollution Prevention

Clients of Westward Environmental, Inc. are generally concerned with one of three types of storm water permits:

Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Permit No. TXR05000

This general permit provides authorization for point source discharges of storm water associated with industrial activity to water in the state (including direct discharges and discharges to a municipal separate storm sewer system).  The permit contains effluent limitations and requirements applicable to all industrial activities that are eligible for coverage under this general permit.

National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit for Discharges from Ready-Mixed Concrete Plants, Concrete Products Plants, and their Associated Facilities in Texas (TXG110000)

This general permit authorizes discharges of facility waste water and contact storm water from ready-mix concrete plants, concrete products plants, and their associated facilities in Texas.  This permit covers Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes 3723 (manufacture of ready-mix concrete), 3272 (manufacture of concrete products, except block and brick), and 3271 (manufacture of concrete block and brick).

Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Permit No. 150000

Discharges of storm water from small (1 to less than 5 acres) and large (5 acres and over) construction activities may be authorized under this general permit.  Discharges of storm water from construction support activities, including concrete batch plants, asphalt plants, equipment staging areas, material storage yards, material borrow areas, and excavated material disposal areas may be authorized under this general permit.

As the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) continues to develop other industry specific storm water general permits, Westward Environmental, Inc. will aggressively track their progress and keep our clients informed when changes occur.
